I wish I was running at Huntingdon on Sunday, because I'd have a great chance of winning.
The race I am talking about, of course, is the one involving York City FC's furry friend, Yorkie the Lion, along with a whole load of other mascots from the sports world.
I've never raced a lion before, but I'm sure that having one chasing me up the home straight would make me run faster - not that I am afraid of that big softie, though.
I wouldn't like to bet on who would actually win the race, but I would imagine that Eddie the Eagle, from Essex County Cricket Club, might have an advantage as the hurdles should not cause a bird of prey any problems, while Manchester City's alien buddy, Moonchester, might be aided by some kind of extra-terrestrial gadget.
Anyway, best go, I have to ring my friend, Harry The Horse, Haydock Park Racecourse's own mascot, to give him some tips.
Regards,
Evening Press.
