Half Glance can prove her class at Ascot's star-studded meeting tomorrow.
Trained by Henry Cecil, this unbeaten dual-winner goes for the £200,000 Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile and I strongly fancy her to complete a hat-trick.
Half Glance underlined her burgeoning prowess at Doncaster earlier this month when winning the May Hill Stakes in the style of a potential top-notch performer.
The likewise unbeaten Gossamer, very impressive at Goodwood last time, ranks as a major threat to Half Glance, along with Irish raider Maryinsky. But Richard Quinn's mount is expected to hold all the aces in this fascinating Group 1 contest - one of five races being televised from Ascot on BBC1.
The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes, worth £300,000, brings together a cracking field of milers.
Noverre and No Excuse Needed, first and second in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last month, are in opposition again and look likely to fight out the finish.
But the value bet of the race could be Proudwings, the German challenger who beat Noverre in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville last time - only to lose that Group 1 contest in the stewards' room for causing interference inside the final furlong.
At 5-1 third-favourite, Proudwings represents great each-way value in what promises to be a crackerjack of a race.
Banjo Bay, napped in this column for last Saturday's Ayr Gold Cup, ran a blinder of a race to finish a close-up fifth to Continent at 20-1.
He turns out again for the £75,000 Tote Trifecta Handicap and, stepping up a furlong, is again worthy of respect. Seb Sanders has the mount on Bryan McMahon's useful three-year-old.
Also worth looking out for on a first-class programme is the exciting Lahooq (2.00) and the hat-trick seeking Vision Of Night (3.05).
At Haydock, where racing went ahead this afternoon after the course passed a morning inspection following heavy rain yesterday, the expected testing conditions will be very much in favour of Litzinsky in the Akzo Nobel Premier Handicap.
Charles Booth's proven mudlark revelled in similar heavy ground when winning on this course two outings ago before finding conditions too lively for him at Ayr last week.
Samadilla is another local horse who likes deep ground, and Tim Easterby's charge has strong claims in the Littlewoods Bet Direct Autumn Handicap.
The three-year-old came from a long way back to finish fourth to Lots Of Love over this course and distance earlier in the month and would hardly need to improve much on that display to get her head in front here.
Grey Cossack is awarded my Nap vote in the Akzo Nobel Holdings Handicap. Mel Brittain's sprinter is another mudlover and he gave notice that his winning turn was near at Newcastle recently when beaten just a length into third place by Baby Barry.
Reverting to five furlongs from six should not inconvenience Grey Cossack, especially on heavy ground, and the Warthill four-year-old is fancied to run a big race under smart apprentice David Allan.
Tomorrow's tips:
Ascot
2.00 Lahooq, 2.35 Half Glance, 3.05 Vision Of Night, 3.40 Banjo Bay, 4.20 Proudwings, 4.55 Mowaadah, 5.30 Accepting.
Haydock
2.10 River Reine, 2.40 Litzinsky, 3.15 Samadilla, 3.50 Grey Cossack (Nap), 4.25 Pasithea, 5.00 Dubai Belle, 5.25 Benny The Vice.
