A GOAL from Darren Miles looked to be enough to give Marcia their first ever victory in the top division of the John Smiths York Sunday Morning League.

But Phil Hart popped up with an equaliser deep into stoppage time to preserve New Earswick's unbeaten start to the season and install them as early leaders.

Three goals in the last five minutes gave Volunteers a deserved 4-0 win at Hounds despite being down to ten men for most of the game.

Jamie Steel scored twice as Wigginton beat Magnet 4-1 and Zafs opened their account with a 2-0 win at Acomb WMC with an own goal and strike from Carter.

Nestl Rowntree shared six goals when they entertained Pack of Cards. Wain (2) and Blake scored for 'Trees with Ducey (2) and Nelson replying for Pack.

Jubilee lead division two after Paul Salkeld (2) and a Matt Moore penalty gave them a 3-1 victory at Fulford Bay.

Pocklington also made it two wins out of two with goals from Matt Abblett and Scott Silburn in their 2-0 win over Derwent United.

Matt Carlton gave Blacksmiths Arms the lead in the second half of their game against Shipton but an own goal five minutes from time gave the visitors a point. Riccall went down 2-0 to goals from A Triffitt and Birch for Derwent Arms.

Bishopthorpe United opened their league campaign with a crushing 4-0 win over Otis Bar in division three with goals from Hanford (2), Broadbent and Dale.

Paul Floyd (2) and John Durrant were on target as Raskelf beat Derwent United Reserves 3-0 in division four.

Chris Todd scored twice for Acomb Celtic but was on the losing side as York Nomads came from behind to win 3-2 with goals from Cookland, Shaw and Hurst. Honours were even in the derby between Wigginton Grasshoppers and Haxby. A Gavin Scoreby penalty gave Haxby a first-half lead but Mike Machen equalised for Wigginton.

Matt Shelton hit a hat-trick and Dave Medley also scored as Keystones shared eight goals with Hemingbrough, whose Jackson (2), Urwin and Stephenson were on the mark.

Opticare look to be one of the teams to beat in division five although they had to work hard for victory against Heworth. Matty Bostock gave them a first-half lead which was cancelled out by a Michael Page volley just into the second half. Opticare finally took control and further goals from C Haigh, Allinson and W Haigh saw them run out 4-1 winners.

Thornton and Thomas both hit hat-tricks as Burnholme SC put eight past Knavesmire to go top.

Mark Lund capitalised on some poor Boy and Barrel defending to give Inland Revenue the lead after ten minutes and then further strikes from Herrington and a free-kick from Rob Evans gave them a 3-0 interval lead but they were unable to capitalise on their superiority and could not add any more goals after the break.

Andy Nicholson hit five goals and Sam England three as Sporting Civil Service thumped Northern Spirit 11-1.
