Frankie Dettori deserts Ascot tomorrow in favour of travelling to Redcar and looks set to enjoy a bumper afternoon.

The charismatic Italian jockey will be at Ascot on Saturday, where a life-sized statue of him will be unveiled to commemmorate his feat of completing his 'Magnificent Seven' wins at the corresponding meeting five years ago.

He rode three winners at Goodwood yesterday, was bidding for more at Pontefract this afternoon and tomorrow he could well complete a 'Magnificent Five' at Redcar, where he has fancied rides virtually throughout the afternoon.

The hat-trick seeking Caqui D'Or, trained by John Dunlop, looks a good ride for him in the featured Constant Security Rated Handicap.

The three-year-old has never looked back since being upped in distance and this one mile and threequarters event looks tailor-made for the Sussex raider.

Dettori also partners a couple of unraced two-year-olds for Newmarket trainer David Loder.

The pair, Maraami (2.15) and Tayibah (4.35), are likely to start favourite, simply on the strength of Loder's fantastic record this season with first-time-out juveniles. He has sent out 27 individual two-year-old winners.

Ben Hanbury's recent winner Historic Treble will have Dettori's assistance in the September Nursery, while the promising Kama Sutra, trained by William Jarvis, will bid to add to the jockey's scoresheet in the Autumn Maiden Stakes.

Three races will be televised live on BBC2 from Ascot tomorrow, including the inaugural running of the Watership Down Stud Stakes, which is confined to juvenile fillies and is worth a whopping £250,000.

Ringmoor Down is an interesting contestant, having opened her account in good style on her debut at Kempton, despite running green.

Almost sure to have improved further as a result of that experience, Peter Makin's speedy youngster is expected to go well here and is awarded the Nap vote.

Kieren Fallon's mount All Grain, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, looks to have the credentials required to lift the £35,000 Sodexho Harvest Stakes, while Scottish raider Chookie Heiton has strong claims in the £30,000 Betdaq Showcase Handicap.

Shrewd trainer Ian Semple seldom ventures south without good reason and in Chookie Heiton he has a gelding very much on the upgrade.

Winner of two of his last three races, he was a fluent scorer at Newcastle on his latest outing. Ryedale jockey Robert Winston has the mount on the three-year-old.

The final of the Bollinger Champagne Amateur Riders' Challenge Series is a mile and a half handicap, which looks a suitable target for Rutland Chantry, a regular in these sort of events, trained by Steve Gollings in Lincolnshire.
