UNDERDOGS York Groves will have a giant-killing act in mind when they visit Hunslet Warriors 'A' in the second round of the Yorkshire Cup.
The Pennine League division four outfit were given a bye through the first round of the competition but were handed this tough draw in the second against a side in the senior division of the Yorkshire League.
Coach Alan Mitchell also has to contend with several injury victims, with Rich Pollock out with a groin strain, Darren Wilson (broken arm), John Rushworth and Lee Harton all missing.
However, Mitchell has a big squad of 30 players to choose and, with little to lose, his men will be going all out to cause a major upset.
Groves secretary Ian Colley said: "We have had a mixed start to the season in the league, winning one game and narrowly losing two.
"However we have shown plenty of character and potential with all the new signings fitting in well."
The club is still looking for a trained physiotherapist and anyone interested should call Ian Colley on 01904 652344.
Selby Warriors, with one giant-killing act already behind them this season, will be bidding for another when they entertain Bradford-based Birkenshaw.
Warriors beat New Earswick All Blacks in round one and face another higher-ranked team on Saturday, Birkenshaw being a Pennine League premier division outfit.
However, like All Blacks, the West Yorkshire outfit have not won a league game so far this season and Yorkshire League division three side Selby will be hopeful of causing another upset.
