HALF-price treats will be the icing on the cake for charity fundraisers who visit York's Castle Museum on Friday.

For people who turn out to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Relief by taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning will be offered 50 per cent off biscuits and cakes at Milburn's Cafe, in the museum, between 10am and noon. More than 100 coffee mornings are being held in York, to raise vital cash to help cancer research.

Disney-daft chef Jennie Cook is among those taking part on Friday and she is promising a room with a view for people who help her raise money. The TV chef will be holding her own version of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party at her guest house, in Bishopthorpe Road, from 10am. Cartoon-lovers who turn up will be greeted by a scene from Alice In Wonderland, which Jennie painted to brighten up her dining room.

Other coffee mornings taking place include events at the Royal Opera House, Acomb Primary School and York District Hospital. Hannah Kingston, events co-ordinator at Macmillan Cancer Relief, said: "It is very exciting to see so many businesses and individuals setting up coffee mornings."
