A PENSIONER was seriously injured when his car ended up in a ditch after a collision on the A64.
David Hatt, 78, was trapped for more than an hour in his vehicle before being cut free by firefighters following the incident, which occurred at about 11.20am on Saturday at the Barton Hill junction.
Mr Hatt suffered a fractured leg and hip, as well as chest and spinal injuries, and was taken to York District Hospital, where he was stable today. His passenger, Kathleen Hatt, 73, was also taken to hospital, after suffering minor injuries.
The other vehicle involved was driven by Maureen Hotham, 55. She and her passenger Sandra Lieves, 47, both from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, suffered minor injuries.
