Selby went down to a 35-13 reversal at home to Beverley after a disappointing display.
The visitors were 18-7 up at half-time, Selby's points coming from a try by right wing Geoff Stier and a conversion by David Batty.
And although Batty added two second-half penalties, Beverley stretched their lead after the interval.
Selby first-team manager Richard Besley said: "It was a lacklustre performance from both sides in the first half but whereas in the second half Beverley improved their game, we didn't."
