FARMERS markets are being promoted this month - National Farmers Markets Month - and doing the honours on the weekend in York was James Pavitt, director of the National Association of Farmers Markets pictured (at right) with York Coun Derek Small who is the council's executive member for the environment. Up to 40 farmers and producers attend the market from within a radius of 40 miles from York As well as traditional produce such as fruit and veg, pork, beef and lamb, commodities include venison, wild boar, ostrich, cheese, beer, herbal punch, organic bread, honey, soap, jams and preserves, plants and hand-crafted cards.
