PICKERING Town have set up a mouth-watering tie with Accrington Stanley after Simon Sturdy's late strike saw the Pikes beat Crook Town 1-0 in the FA Cup first qualifying round replay last night.
Sturdy headed home from a corner just two minutes from time - and seven minutes after team-mate Dean McAuley was sent of for two bookable offences - to secure the win and a resultant financial boost for the club.
Boss Jimmy Reid: "Sturdy is our captain, centre-half and goalscorer extraordinaire. He only gets about five or six a season but they are always vital goals.
"We're now at home to former Football League outfit Accrington Stanley and for a wee club like us it will be great, plus we get a couple of pounds for winning through. It was a great night."
He added: "We had lots of chances and as Crook were better than on Saturday (in the 1-1 draw) we've got to give the boys credit."
