POLICE officers patrolled the Clifton bridge area of York last night after receiving reports of a man wearing a camouflage suit firing a handgun.
A member of the public reported seeing the man shooting in the Clifton Ings area, near the flood barriers.
Police found several 8mm blank firing cartridges in the area, but the man had disappeared.
Patrols continued in the area for several hours after the incident, but there were no further sightings.
The incident happened just before 5pm. The man is described as having a long, blond pony tail.
