Boxing stars Nigel Benn and Joe Calzaghe are among a host of sporting names who are to attend a special benefit day for Scarborough boxer Paul Ingle later this month.
Ingle suffered horrific injuries in defence of his world title against Mbulelo Botile last December and has been told he will not be able to fight again.
A football match will take place on Sunday, September 30, at Scarborough's McCain Stadium between a Paul Ingle All Star XI and the cast from the Sky One series Dream Team.
Boxers Ricky Hatton, Spencer Oliver, Scott Harrison, Billy Hardy and Barry McGuigan will be playing along with Middlesbrough footballer Jono Greening and jockey Franny Norton. They will line up against the stars of Sky TV's fictional team, Harchester United. Joe Royle will make a special appearance as co-manager of the Ingle team. The match will be followed by a celebration dinner at the Royal Hotel said promoter Frank Maloney, whose Sports Network company is organising the event.
All proceeds will go to Paul.
Tickets for the match cost £5 for adults and £2 for children while the dinner costs £55 including admission to the match. They are available from Rocky Rowe on 01723 501892.
