IT'S NEVER too late to find love, according to these two York pensioners.
The couple were tying the knot today - at the ripe old age of 79.
Fred Barrett and Megan Burgess met on a weekend trip to Llandudno in April this year.
Love blossomed as the pair discovered they had so much in common.
Both Fred and Megan were widowed three years ago.
Retired post office worker Fred said: "We get on like a house on fire and we thought, why not? You only live once."
The ceremony was being held at St James the Deacon Church, Woodthorpe, and the couple were planning to spend their honeymoon on a two-week cruise around the Mediterranean.
The four bridesmaids are all great-grandchildren of Megan, who worked as a nurse at Bootham Park Hospital. She said both families were thrilled at the news.
She said: "Neither of us was looking for anything more than friendship, but it just blossomed from there.
"We want to enjoy our twilight years together."
The couple were having their reception at Honeysuckle House, where Fred lives in sheltered housing.
Warden Lillian Wallace said: "Everybody is very happy for them. It shows that it's never too late."
