AUTUMNAL blooms of all colours, shapes and sizes went on display today at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
The 26th Harrogate Autumn Flower Show opened today at the Harrogate showground, with pre-booked tickets for the event up 22 per cent on last year's figure.
Organisers from the North of England Horticultural Society hope that the three-day event will go on to be a popular one.
Show director Roger Brownbridge said: "We are thrilled at these figures and the quality of the 2001 show. Foot and mouth disease and the petrol crisis have both posed great problems for us over the last year and the support from our exhibitors and visitors has been astounding. We are proud to be able to reward them with a first-class 26th show."
The Autumn Flower Show plays host to 13 national amateur society shows and this year the show is using the new Hall 2 for the first time, to house the National Vegetable Society Show.
Tickets can only be bought on the gate at £9 each (adults and OAPs) with accompanied children under 16 free of charge. The gates are open from 9.30am until 5.30pm on each day.
