NORTH Yorkshire went down 30-8 to a strong Barrow side in their Under 15 Rugby League representative game at Craven Park.
Probing runs from man-of-the-match Liam Watling, Marcus Allan and Matt Derry raised York's spirits but by then Barrow had ran in four tries.
Derry finally crossed for North Yorkshire on the stroke of half-time following a flowing cross-field move.
Derry scored his second try from a short pass from Paul Nicholson to cut the arreas shortly after the interval.
The home side stepped up the pace, tightened up its defence and kept out the North Yorkshire attack before capitalising on an error to score a converted try to stretch their lead.
Two late tries, as the North Yorkshire side tired gave Barrow a 30-8 victory.
