Dunnington Bowls Club ended their outdoor season with a double triumph in York and District Private Bowls Club League competitions.
They won both the Knockout final and the Champion of Champions competition at the Bert Keech Bowling Club in York.
They had to come from behind to beat Stamford Bridge in the Champion of Champions final after trailing 29-25 after ten ends and 42-35 after 15 ends.
But with two ends remaining, Dunnington dug deep and had turned a deficit of seven shots into a lead of 16 and eventually ran out 64-44 winners.
Section one champions Dunnington had defeated Railway Institute (Section Three champions) 57-32 in the semi-final while Stamford Bridge (Section Two champions) beat Riccall (Section Six champions) 62-39 in the other semi-final.
Dunnington 'C' (Section Three champions) and Selby (Section Five champions) didn't make it through to the finals but received their trophies, along with the other finalists, from D Haw, president of the league.
Membership of the league is open to any bowls club within a radius of 15 miles from Clifford's Tower who bowl on a private green. All inquiries should be made to league secretary S R Batty at 60 Ryecroft Avenue, York (01904 707610).
Dunnington completed the double by beating Copmanthorpe 'A' 64-44 in the Knockout Competition final.
Meanwhile, members of Melbourne Bowling Club have savoured their most successful year in county and national competitions.
In the Humberside County Finals, at Kirmington, Alwin Johnson won the men's over-65 singles while Dorothy Dicker scooped the ladies' over-60 singles on the way to a remarkable hat-trick of success.
Dicker joined forces with Ann Johnson to win the ladies over-60's pairs then linked-up with Zoe Hewitt and Patricia Watson to taste more success in the two-bowl rinks.
All the winners went on to represent Humberside in the national finals in Skegness where Hewitt, Watson, and Dicker, won the two-bowl rinks final by seven shots.
Arthur Hewitt was also a member of the Humberside County Newton team that went on to take national honours.
