THERE will be a record number of football teams playing in the York Schools Primary Leagues this season.

Tang Hall have now been added to League E and Lakeside have been moved into League F. Skelton have been moved out of League F and transferred to League D.

The changes mean that there are six Primary Leagues each containing seven teams, making a total of 42 teams, the highest number in the history of the leagues.

Results of all schools' games should reach local press secretary, Peter Wilmot at 217 Beckfield Lane, Acomb, York YO26 5PH (01904 791416) as soon as possible.

Where scores are level at the end of knock-out finals extra time will be played, with the winner being the team which scores first.

Extra time for all secondary knock-out games is 10 minutes each way.

In all league and friendly games teams may operate "rolling" substitutes.

The results of knock-out games must reach the local press secretary by 9pm on the day of the deadline.

Tied matches reaching the second replay stage may not take place after the deadline.

There has been an alteration to Group D in the Parent-Teachers' five-a-side competition. Where the bottom team in the Group was "School B Team" this should now read, "Tang Hall" The four groups are:

Group A: Wigginton, Woodthorpe, St.Wilfrid's, St Aelred's, Lakeside, Clifton Without.

Group B: Clifton Green (Kingsway), Barlby Bridge, Headlands, Robert. Wilkinson, Park Grove, English Martyrs

Group C: Rufforth, Osbaldwick, Copmanthorpe, Appleton Roebuck, St. George's, St. Lawrence's.

Group D: Poppleton Road, Skelton, New Earswick, Ralph Butterfield, Tang Hall, Dringhouses.

RUGBY UNION

SCHOOLS should nominate any Under 16 players who were not in last year's Under 15 York/Selby squad who they feel are worthy of a place this season.

Names and positions should be sent to Mike Johnson by Friday. Players already in the existing squad who don't want to take part should also contact him as soon as possible.

Players who played for Yorkshire Schools or clubs at Under 15 level qualify automatically for a semi-final place and need not take part in trials leading up to the semi-final stage.

The opening game will be against Scarborough/Ryedale/Cleveland next week and a match will also be played against Claro/Craven/Hambleton/Richmond on Tuesday, September 25, at St Peter's School, York, (2pm).

County semi-final trials will be held on either Tuesday, October 9, at Queen Elizabeth GS, Wakefield or on Thursday, October 11, at Woodhouse Grove., Bradford.

A Development Day will be held at St Peter's on Sunday, October 28 with the final county trails being staged on Tuesday, November 6.

Selby schools will be contacted for nominations by Neal French for the North Yorkshire Under 15 side by Robbie Andrews (Millthorpe).

York/Selby Under 15s will play in Yorkshire Tournament on Sunday, November 4, at Bradford GS (10am).

An under 15 Development Day will be held on Sunday, November 18, at Bradford GS (11am to 4pm) with a final trial on Tuesday, December 11, at Silcoates School, Wakefield.

ATHLETICS

The Annual General Meeting of the York and District Schools' Athletics will be held on Tuesday, October 30, at Millthorpe School (4pm).
