THIS quiet suburban street may not look very different from any other modern estate road - but it is home to some of the country's hottest properties.

Boltby Road, Clifton Moor otherwise known as YO30 4UW ranks 13th nationally for the number of houses bought and sold over the past year.

And York as a city came home a comfortable 32nd in the national survey, carried out by global researchers Experian.

York was the highest placed city in the north, easily beating neighbouring Harrogate as one of the top places to buy and sell in the country.

Researchers said sales in the area had boomed over the last year.

York had moved from a sellers to a buyers market as people searched to purchase a home in the city.

Residents moving out of Clifton Moor had few problems selling their homes as new buyers flocked to the area.

Last year 12 per cent of properties on the street changed hands.

The 11-year-old homes stand in the maze of houses which have sprung up in the area.

Ben Hudson, from estate agents Hudson Moody, said: "It probably sums up York in general because there are certainly other streets at the higher end of the spectrum.

"York is now becoming a dormitory town for Leeds, overtaking places like Harrogate and Wetherby because of the A1/M1 link.

"The Clifton Moor area is a very sought-after place for its services and its transport links out of the city.

"I suspect a lot of people will have cashed in on the fact that it is very handy."
