UNBEATEN Bubwith Tennis Club's second mixed team is celebrating a second successive record-breaking year.
Last season the team set an all-time IT Sports York Mixed Tennis League record by winning 1,222 games in the year.
This season, Bubwith comfortably beat that mark by securing a massive 1,258 games, way ahead of the other 160 other clubs in the League.
Captain Liz Bramley, who has led the team to promotion in successive years, said: "We haven't lost a match all summer.
"Our secret lies in a really close and competitive spirit in the team.
"We are competing almost as hard among ourselves as against the opposition."
Last year, the team sought promotion from division ten to division seven, or eight, but were told by League chiefs they could only be promoted one division at a time and were placed in division nine.
Armed with its second record-breaking string of victories, top-scorer and club champion Ian Driffill said the team intends to press its case to the League again.
"Several teams we have played this year have complained that we should have been in a higher division this year," he said.
