The high-tension game in division two was at Mille Crux where Rowntrees and Castleford met in a head-to-head with the loser destined for relegation.

Rowntrees batsmen performed with credit with Richard Tuite making 63 off 93 balls and Paul Horner 41 off even deliveries as he added 52 for the fifth wicket with Tony Thomson.

The home side were able to make

188-9 despite prolonged spells from Dave O'Neill, who claimed 5 for 61, and Paul Wainwright, who took 3 for 87.

Unfortunately for Rowntrees, their bowlers failed to defend their score and O'Neill completed a good performance by hitting 60 as Castleford eased to a two wicket win with one over to spare and send Rowntrees into division three.

The only other outstanding issue in the division was resolved in double-quick time when Goole Town whipped out a ten-man Whitkirk II side for just 39 before racing to a promotion-sealing nine-wicket win.

Dave England confirmed his status a leading wicket taker in the division when he took 5 for 12 in 13.5 overs.

Third-placed Harrogate had a comfortable seven-wicket win over Tadcaster Magnet, who were bowled out for 125 by Peter Kippax, who took 3 for 26 in 11 overs, and Marcus Fox, whose 12 overs gained him a 5-40 return.

Tyrone Naude made 34no for the Brewers.

Mark Cass hit back with 2 for 10 but Philip Hampshire, with 61, and Tom Durrance (27) ensured an easy victory for the hosts.

A Scarborough side packed with youngsters were heavily beaten by divisional champions Hull Zingari in a game played at Huby because of the non-availability of Scarborough's North Marine Road ground.

Zingari were presented with the divisional trophy prior to the game. Unfortunately details of the game were submitted via a mobile phone which had some difficulty in negotiating the eight miles from the ground to the secretary's home.
