Three games, three defeats - that's the stark statistic showing Selby's shocking start to the season.
The truth is that Selby have not deserved to win, and on this 17-5 defeat to hosts Scarborough a poor season is in store.
Newly-promoted Scarborough had far too much fitness, commitment and organisation. They also had a key player in young Kiwi stand off Marcus Edwards, a player of outstanding talents.
The opening exchanges were fairly even with Matthew Smith harassing his opposite number around the base of the scrum and Jason Cicero winning the lion's share of the lineout, but the Selby back line lacked shape and cohesion.
Scarborough winger Holloway skipped through a static defence for a try converted by Edwards, who kicked a long range penalty.
Selby started to get into the game and a series of forward drives saw Andy Pocklington plunge over.
Inside the last quarter of the match excellent movement in the home backs saw centre Rob Bell storm over for the immaculate Edwards to convert. From there on the game was over for Selby and their woes were compounded with an injury to stand off Ray Adamson which may keep him out for some time.
