TOP of the pile in The York Golf Club captain's junior day was 16-year-old Jonathan Kemp.
The talented teenager totalled 42 points to win the event and receive the trophy from delighted club captain Brian Dunning, who donated the cup.
As pleasing to Dunning was the fact that, despite summer holidays, the tournament attracted a 20-strong field to demonstrate the growing strength of the junior game at the Strensall-based club.
Enthused Dunning: "Tony Wood, who is the club's vice-captain, and Don Fairclough both look after the junior section, which is now thriving.
"We've had a lean period at the club until the last couple of years when a crop of good lads, and girls as well, have started to come through."
