YORK City boss Terry Dolan was today hoping to tie-up trialist striker Michael Evans on a short-term contract.
The 25-year-old forward, who scored for City reserves in their 1-0 win over Walsall in midweek, has been drafted into the Minstermen squad to face Hull City at Boothferry Park tomorrow.
"I want to have a longer look at him and I will hopefully be finalising a one-month contract this morning," Dolan told the Evening Press.
"I just think it is fair to the lad to have another look at him and it is obviously an area where we haven't got that much cover at the moment."
With Peter Duffield and Alex Mathie both sidelined, Dolan only has rookie striker Scott Emmerson as cover for first-choice duo Lee Nogan and Michael Proctor.
Evans, 25, previously played his football for VV Venlow in the Dutch Second Division and earlier this summer was on trial at First Division Bradford City.
Neville Stamp is also added to tomorrow's squad after successfully coming through 90 minutes of reserve team action following his groin injury.
Former Hull City boss Dolan admitted it promised to be a big test for his players but one they are looking forward to and is calling on the Minstermen faithful to silence the Tigers' roar.
"The more supporters we get their the better because the Hull crowd is very vociferous.
"But as our supporters have shown this season, we can be as well.
"We want to match their players on the field and it would be nice to hear our supporters out-shouting Hull and certainly if we are doing the job on the pitch there is every chance that might happen."
