The Hunters Estate Agent York & District League were involved in two inter-league knockout competition finals on the same day and pulled off a fine double.
They won the Yorkshire Inter-League by beating the Halifax League and the Leeds Area Council Knockout Competition by beating the Wetherby League.
The York side had never previously played in the Leeds Area competition and found themselves batting first after Wetherby had won the toss in the final at Bramham & Clifford Cricket Club.
Paul Wright was dismissed third ball but skipper Stuart Coleman and Hornsea's Paul Clappison recovered the innings before the latter was out at 41.
Coleman was finally dismissed for 55 which earned him the man of the match award.
The middle order showed its mettle, firstly with David Longley and Whitkirk's Grant Galloway putting on 34 for the fifth wicket then impressive knocks from Goole Town's Neil Foster (30) and Hornsea skipper Richard Medforth (20).
The pair produced a partnership of 39 and enabled the York side to reach 177 for 9.
At 57 for 6 the game was firmly in York's favour but some spirited late order attacking from Mark Blundell (24) and Craig Russell (30) raised home side hopes. But both were bowled by Goole's Dave England and Wetherby were all out for 144 to leave York Senior League victors by 33 runs.
In the Yorkshire Inter-League Knockout Competition at Copley Cricket Club, the York League batted first against the Halifax League and were given a sound start by Acomb's Andy Tute and Brian Leckenby who moved rapidly to 43 before Tute was dismissed for 23. Leckenby was then joined by Pickering team-mate Colin Frank who embarked on a half century partnership.
Leckenby was dismissed for 39 but Dave Russell gave valuable support as man of the match Frank raced to a 47-ball half-century. Russell had made 20 off 24 balls when he was lbw to Midwood who quickly dismissed Matt Till for three.
Frank upped the scoring rate with some big hits but perished trying another big hit after making 86 off 65 balls.
Skipper Mike Burdett then crashed three sixes and two fours in the final two overs to reach an unbeaten 50 off just 33 balls and take his side to 246 for 8.
The York League's Tom Glover drew first blood when he had Summerscales lbw for 10 and then dismissed Gledhill for a duck. Richard Burdett (Woodhouse Grange) took two quick wickets and half the home side were out for 76 in 22 overs.
Halifax hit back as M.Midwood and G.Rodgers embarked on a fine century stand which produced 117 runs in 15 overs before Glover bowled Rodgers for 61 and Midwood for 57.
Glover then claimed a fifth wicket to close with 5 for 50 as Halifax's innings ended on 211 for 9 to leave the York League victors by 35 runs.
