Former York City and Manchester United midfielder Jonathan Greening hopes to round off a memorable nine days by scoring for Middlesbrough in the top-flight north-east derby against Newcastle United at the Riverside Stadium tomorrow.
Scarborough-born Greening helped England Under-21s beat Germany 2-1 and Albania 5-0 to establish the young lions as favourites to win their European Championship qualifying group.
It was his second international goal, though he has yet to hit the target in the Premiership either for the Red Devils or goal-starved Boro.
Said the ex-York starlet, pictured left: "It was great to score against Albania.
"I hope to follow it up with a goal against Newcastle United. That would crown a great week for me.
"It is more important, though, to get our first win of the season."
Middlesbrough, whom Greening joined for £2million in the week before the start of the current Premiership season after almost three years with champions Manchester United, have drawn a blank in all their three Premiership games so far - at home to Arsenal, and then away to current pace-setters Bolton and Everton.
