A NORTH Yorkshire man died after a road accident on the A59 near Harrogate.
Jesse Wilbur Jackson, 52, from Low Laithe, Pateley Bridge, died after his car, a green Toyota RAV 4, and a red Leyland DAF articulated lorry collided on the A59 at the junction of Cold Cotes Road, near Menwith Hill.
Mr Jackson was turning right onto Cold Cotes Road at the time of the crash. The lorry was heading towards Harrogate.
Mr Jackson was declared dead at the scene and a female passenger was taken to Harrogate District Hospital for treatment.
The HGV driver, Thomas Tarn from County Durham, was uninjured in the accident which happened at 3.20pm yesterday.
The road was closed for several hours and drivers were diverted away from the accident scene.
Harrogate police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them on 01423 539326.
