GUTSY York Acorn today lord it at the top of the National Conference League second division after they made it two wins out of two with an emphatic 42-12 triumph away to Dewsbury Moor.
Acorn carried on where they left off the previous week against Cottingham Tigers with another classy display.
Second rower Kenny Embleton opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a try following a quick tap penalty.
Shortly after, the visitors' man-of-the-match Danny Liddell crossed for a try, full-back John Hough adding the conversion.
With only 26 minutes gone Acorn's advantage was increased as Michael Embleton and stand-off Darren Callaghan combined to enable prop forward Lee McTigue to charge over. Hough was again reliable with the kick.
There was no stopping Acorn now sas they carved out a succession of chances, only for their sterling work to be undone by dropped passes.
But six minutes befor the interval excellent play from Michael Embleton, Rob Lee and scrum-half Liddell set up Callaghan to cross with Hough applying the rest of the honours with the boot for a 22-0 half-time lead.
Hough slotted over a penalty soon after the re-start to be followed by a rare incursion from Dewsbury's Julian Yarrow. Steve Beard added the conversion.
Substitute forward Carl Rollinson however hit back immediately for Acorn, callaghan converting.
Then, winger Steven Irving finished off a flowing move with Callgahan again kicking the extras.
Barely had the applause subsided when another Acorn move swept upfield allowing Callaghan to cross followed by Hough's conversion to bring up Acorn's 100th point of the season after just two games.
Dewsbury notched the consolation of the final try, but Acorn were fully deserving of their landmark win prompted by Liddell, McTigue and Callaghan.
