British Sugar sprang the season's biggest surprise when defeating Ovington to lift the Guy Mitchell Cup.
Ovington skipper John Sharples set off at a blistering pace with 18 from the first over but thereafter the innings proceeded more sedately as the Sugar bowlers, backed by sharp fielding, gave their all.
Andy Holmes and Graham Davies were dismissed when well set leaving number five David Whittle to view the tumbling wickets at the other end as Ovington went from 137 for 5 to 155 for 9 with four batsmen run out.
In reply, Clive Heaton held the Sugar innings together against the pacey Ovington attack in which Ian Holmes conceded just 16 from his ten overs.
A direct throw from Sharples ran out S Taylor and Paul Mahoney went to a juggling catch in the slips to leave them 47 for 3.
However, Mark Bellerby came in and with Heaton took the Ovington attack on and the runs began to flow.
The 100 partnership came up with Sugar firmly in the driving seat and although Heaton eventually fell for a defiant 49, well taken by Sharples, there was no stopping Bellerby, who finished the game with a flurry of boundaries.
In the Prendergast Memorial Trophy semi-finals, Tollerton (85-4) beat Selby (84) by six wickets, while Pocklington (83) lost to York University Staff (172-6) by 109 runs. The final is Tadcaster Magnet on Sunday.
Also played on Sunday is the Scothern Construction Cup final between Escrick Park and Burton Salmon at Woodhouse Grange.
