PAINTINGS of flowers, gardens and landscapes are on show throughout September and October at Kentmere House Gallery, in Scarcroft Hill, York.
Entitled The Art Of The Garden, the exhibition includes views of prominent Yorkshire gardens and landscapes, such as Castle Howard and Burton Agnes Hall, and flower paintings inspired by the gardens. On view are watercolours by Brenda Evans; etchings by Richard Bawden; the colourful garden views of Louis Turpin; and small landscapes in oils by York artist Philip Wiseman.
The Art Of The Garden show is the forerunner to an event planned for next year by Kentmere House Gallery in association with the Red Cross Open Gardens Scheme. This will involve around 30 invited artists working in selected gardens throughout the scheme's next season, culminating in an exhibition to be held next September.
Ann Petherick, owner of Kentmere House Gallery, says: "The previous shows of paintings of Yorkshire gardens have been a great success and have helped to raise funds for the charities. We look forward to this exhibition doing likewise."
Kentmere House Gallery is open every Thursday from 6pm to 9pm; the first weekend of every month, 11am to 5pm each day; plus any other time by ringing in advance on 01904 656507. The next two open weekends are September 1 and 2, then October 6 and 7.
