Selby Warriors go into the new Yorkshire League season on Saturday in confident mood despite seeing their preparations hit by violence.
Their 'friendly' at Redhill had to be abandoned after only 35 minutes following three all-in brawls.
Most of the players were involved in the fights and after the third skirmish the referee decided enough was enough.
It was a disappointing end to Selby's pre-season programme prior to Saturday's opening division three fixture at Hunslet Old Boys (ko 2.30pm).
Athough preparations were disrupted, the Warriors were pleased with their tackling display and wholehearted team spirit, and will hope to take the same commitment, albeit channelled differently, into Saturday's match.
In the same division, York Acorn 'A' start with a home clash against East Leeds 'A' (ko 2.30pm).
Acorn have a strong looking squad which will hope to build on last season's division four top-four play-off final appearance.
In division four, Heworth 'A' open their campaignnith a trip to Stanley Rangers 'A'.
