YORK bowlers were successful in the pairs, triples and two-wood singles of the Yorkshire County Women's Bowling Association Finals held at the Bert Keech club.
Ann Redhead and Sue Chilton (Railway Institute) beat a Middlesbrough pair 18-17 and Maureen Thomas (Dunnington) won the 2-wood pairs title against M Stakes of Harrogate.
Brenda Love, Sue Kirkpatrick and Pat Wilson (Railway Inst) are the triples champions after beating Trish Stevens, Mavis Claire and Melanie Brooke (Bert Keech) 21-10.
The Benevolent Triples final between Pat Teasdale, Norma Reed, Kath Blease (Copmanthorpe) and Ann Redhead, Sue Kirkpatrick, Pat Wilson (Railway Inst) ended in a 14-11 victory for the Copmanthorpe ladies.
The John Smith's triple competition was won by J Bone, D Haw, P Reeves (South Bank).
The plate competition went to P Littlewood, M Robertson and A Dunbar of Poppleton Road WMC.
All other C&I Bowls trophies will be presented at the AGM on Thursday, September 13, at Poppleton Road WMC starting at 8pm. Club secretaries please ensure all trophies are returned by 7.30pm that evening.
After 36 triples played in five games over two days attempting to qualify for the final stages of the Dunnington Mixed Competition, John and Sue Taylor with Tom Homan finished as winners beating Alan Ellgood with Dave and Dot Horsley in the final.
Meanwhile, the finals of the Persimmon Homes Ideal Standard Bowls Competitions are on Saturday at Copmanthorpe (2pm starting). Prizes will be presented by YABA President Terry Hague.

Fours: K Ryder snr and jnr, N Ryder, M Heffernan (Retreat) v H Rhodes, R Newton, M Clark, G Bunce (Haxby Road).
