Dunnington emerged victorious in their second nail-biting finish in two days when they gained a one wicket victory over Acomb to go 13 points clear at the top of the Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior Cricket League.
After winning the League Premier Knockout Trophy the previous day by the narrowest of margins, Dunnington are now on course for a league and cup double.
Acomb were without the services of their free-scoring overseas player Duminda Perera, who has returned home because of family illness and will play no further part in this year's campaign.
Joe Grant was in devastating form for Dunnington as he captured 6 for 33 to take his season's tally to 57 wickets, though Joe Burton batted with resolve to make 50 in his side's total of 140.
Simon Kellett (27) and Harwood Williams (29) made modest runs at the top of the Dunnington innings but then saw their successors struggle against the Sykes brothers with Richard taking 4 for 21 and Dave 3 for 59.
Their combined efforts made for a nerve-wracking finale which saw Dunnington press their claim for their first-ever title when they crept to a one wicket win in the final over.
Darren Reeves went past the 1,000 runs mark when he hit 96 in an opening stand of 153 with Dave Taylor (63) for Clifton Alliance at Whitkirk. Reeves now needs 142 runs from the final two games to beat ben Higgins' record of 1,207 runs set in 1999.
With Simon Dwyer adding an unbeaten 63, Clifton were able to declare for the second time in three days after reaching 256 for 4 in 47 overs.
Matty Tomlins then hit 70 for relegation threatened Whitkirk but wickets fell regularly to John Hunter whose 5 for 52 left him one short of 50 wickets for the season.
Richard Musgrave added to the batting perils with 3 for 26 but Tom Glover (46) and Jeremy Bowman (29) batted with resolve in an eighth wicket stand of 66 as Clifton were denied victory when Whitkirk's ninth wicket fell off the final delivery of the match at 195 for 9.
Thirsk's Barry Petty took 5 for 92 at Heworth to take his scalps to 61 for the season, a total only bettered twice in the premier division, on both occasions by Petty himself.
Despite his efforts, Heworth gained the better of a draw, their main run makers being skipper Dave Simpson (63), Andrew Dapson (56) and Chris Mead (46no), while young Richard Bently took 4 for 54.
When Thirsk replied, Darren Wyrill made 46 and father Des Wyrill 38 on his birthday but Mark Bell's 4 for 43 kept Thirsk under control as their innings closed at 177 for 8
Osbaldwick salvaged valuable points in their bid to avoid relegation when their last pair of Steve Young and Steve Machen held out for eight overs to deny Sheriff Hutton Bridge a victory which would have put them into fifth place.
Bridge lost Paul Scaling at 66 when he was bowled by Peter Machin for 33 but then made spectacular progress as Paul Oldfield and Steve Crowder added 138 for the second wicket until Crowder was run out for 71.
Oldfield then saw three further partners depart for little reward but moved to his first premier century as he carried his bat for an unbeaten 113 to take Bridge to 258 for 5.
Mike Smith then grabbed three cheap wickets as Osbaldwick slumped to 49 for 4. Oldfield also had Dave Cooper caught by 'keeper Peter Crowder for 23 before taking over as wicket-keeper, taking two catches and a stumping in his unaccustomed role.
Ian Wilson revived Osbaldwick's fortunes as he and Gwayne Hogg (25) added 78 before Hogg was caught by Oldfield off Danny Snowball at 161.
Snowball went on to claim 3 for 58 and the hosts seemed set for defeat when Smith had Wilson caught by Oldfield for 96. But skipper Steve Young found an ally in last man Steve Machen and the pair were able to bat out the final eight overs as Osbaldwick closed at 213 for 9.
The hosts batted first at Pickering and reached 193 all out against bottom-placed Ripon thanks to Colin Frank (75), Brian Leckenby (40) and Craig Aconley (26).
Paul Mason was again the mainstay of the Ripon attack as he took 5 for 40 while Tom Leeming supported with 3 for 36.
When Ripon replied Chris Warters made 37, Robert Hawley 33 and Peter Squires 26 but the clinching contribution came from Neil Jackson whose unbeaten 63 took him past the 600-run mark and gained Ripon a fine five wicket win with ten balls to spare.
Easingwold's batsmen struggled at Woodhouse Grange where a combination of Paul Grewer (4 for 30) and Graham Smith (3 for 9) had them all out for 102.
The only notable batting for Easingwold came from Paul Skilbeck (41). He then captured 4 for 40 but Jonathan Bean hit an unbeaten 44 in 45 balls to take Grange to a five wicket win.
