TWO-YEAR-OLD racehorse Evening Press is all set to make her racing bow within seven days.
The filly, leased by readers of the Evening Press off Norton-based trainer Tim Etherington, has been pencilled in to make her much-anticipated debut at either Ripon or Catterick on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Etherington has entered "the people's horse" at both meetings and will decide which of the two five-furlong races - both of which are coincidentally scheduled for 2.15pm - is more suitable nearer the time, after studying the fields and the conditions.
The race Evening Press has been entered for at Ripon on Tuesday, August 28 is the 2.15 maiden auction sponsored by The Nag's Head at Pickhill, while the race at Catterick on Wednesday, August 29 is the 2.15 median auction maiden. Both are five furlong sprints.
Etherington is pleased she will finally get to taste racing action. "It's been pretty tough on her as she's had a lot of catching up to do but we're trying to get her on the track as quick as we can," he said.
