WHILE not wishing to belittle the efforts of Councillor King and the York Leisure Partnership it seems somewhat bizarre that on the one hand we are likely to be faced with a highly expensive initiative to promote York as a cultural centre for 2008, while at the same time every effort is being made by the council to promote one of the worst acts of cultural vandalism of recent years.
We refer, of course, to the proposal to build part of the Coppergate Centre on the site of York Castle.
Can't we for once have some joined up thinking from the council?
Philip Crowe,
Chair, York Tomorrow,
