JOHN Cook's excellent bowling for York's second team has earned him a first team call against Appleby-Frodingham at Clifton Park tomorrow.
He steps up to the Oxbridge Yorkshire County Premier League in place of Richard Gilbert.
York were scheduled to entertain Sheffield Collegiate on Sunday but that game has been called off.
Collegiate had two players called up for the Yorkshire League XI to play the Bradford league at Dunnington in the Costcutter-sponsored Inter-Leagues KO Cup final (1pm) on the same day.
One of the players, Richard Kettleborough, has now been forced to withdraw from the representative game but it has come too late to get the York game back on. That match will now be played at Clifton Park on either August 26 or September 2.
The race for the title is an exciting one with Harrogate on 94 points, eight points behind joint leaders Scarborough and Sheffield Collegiate.
Sheffield United are still in the hunt in fourth place with 92 points while Yorkshire Academy have 88 points with a game in hand.
Scarborough will be without opener Nick Tubbs for their home game against Hull and his place will go to Yorkshire Under 14 left-hander Chris Batchelor.
Harrogate and Sheffield United dispute second place when they meet at St George's Road.
