THE Americans do not convince with their defence of Son Of Star Wars so fairly offered to them by the Evening Press (August 13).

Now that our new pro-US Foreign Secretary (tactfully replacing Robin Cook) is writing to Labour MPs to try to bring them into line, it is time - to use the old clich - to ask all good men and women to come to the aid of the (Labour) party and say no!

If John Smith had not died we should not be lumbered with a 'foreign' party like that of Margaret Thatcher.

What was the point of voting in a Labour Government?

It's like a bad dream. We are Europeans, being surrendered to a stronger power.

We have a Channel Tunnel - remember? We like individual Americans, but not this.

Uncle Sam, we are not fooled.

The real winners would be the vast army of engineers, scientists and technocrats who are set to make their personal fortunes out of the de-stabilisation of the planet.
