WITHOUT wanting to overkill the recent correspondence about roadside signs, is it only me that is appalled by the motley selection of signs and sale items, that line the bottom end of Hull Road near the Grimston Bar Park and Ride?
Here there are a number of shabby, hand-written/painted signs which amount to no more than offcuts of wood.
One hundred yards up the road the "sale items" themselves have include boats, caravans, trailers and even an old tipper vehicle. Not only very unsightly, these signs and miscellaneous old tat must represent a safety hazard, if, for example, a motorcyclist were forced off the road in an accident.
I would far rather see some well designed roadside signs directing interested parties to bone fide local businesses than this ramshackle selection on what is an important arterial route out of the city, leaving tourists with their final impression of our beautiful city.
Are the authorities simply targeting genuine businesses because they are an easier target?
