I HAVE to sympathise with Mr R Pattison in his dislike of the posters on the new bus shelters in Dringhouses, (Letters, August 11), but at least he has somewhere to wait out in the rain.
These smart new shelters seem to be popping up all over inner York on new sites and replacing older shelters.
At Askham Bryan two shelters have recently appeared while Tadcaster is well known for its shelters with floral displays on their roofs.
But what of Copmanthorpe? It has just one shelter - at The Fox & Hounds A64 stop - which is hardly used.
Once current road works are completed, neither Copmanthorpe residents nor Copmanthorpe buses will be able to reach it at all.
I cannot recollect any other shelter being provided in this village and I accept siting one in the centre would be difficult.
However, there appears to be adequate space at the well-used stops in Flaxman Croft, Hallcroft Lane and Horseman Lane. So why can't Copmanthorpe share in the shelter bonanza? I would welcome a shelter - with or without tacky adverts.
