I WAS recently in the beautiful city of York researching. A long-time teaching colleague of mine, Dr E Martin Browne directed the first production of Canon Purvis's then new translation of the York Mystery Cycle in 1951 and on three subsequent occasions. He also directed the premieres of every one of T S Eliot's plays.
I am planning to write a memoir of Dr Browne's life and so I ask readers for any personal memories of Martin's work. He involved so many local people in the production, and although it is now a good many years ago, I'd like to think that there are people in the city who have memorable recollections of these productions they would be willing to share. You can write to me at the address below or e-mail me on cornish@mindspring.com. I should be grateful for any information that could be shared.
