YORK City boss Terry Dolan is tipping the tip-top Hatters to make a swift return to Division Two.

Luton Town may have suffered the relegation blues last season but, according to Dolan, under Joe Kinnear's stewardship they are well-placed to bounce back swiftly.

Kinnear, the man who did so much to establish Wimbledon as an established Premiership club before the Dons' descent into the Nationwide League first division last year, has splashed the cash this summer.

He has spent £65,000 on Leyton Orient striker Carl Griffiths and another £60,000 on Norwich City's former England youth winger Adrian Forbes, while recruiting a number of players on freebies.

Another club to have forked out big money this summer is Hull City, one of Dolan's former clubs. Backed by new chairman Adam Pearson, the former Leeds United director, the Tigers have recruited almost an entire new team during the close season.

But Kinnear's Hatters still net Dolan's vote.

The City boss said: "It is difficult to say who I think will do well next year as I haven't seen much of the teams that have come down from the Second Division.

"But of those who have I would think Luton will be as strong as everybody."

Added the City manager: "They have signed quite a few players and from what I have seen of them over the last 12 months to two years they have got some good young players coming through as well.

"If they can keep hold of them I think they will be there or thereabouts."
