A GLAMOROUS North Yorkshire car firm is enjoying a groundswell of interest - thanks to movie star John Travolta.
Harrogate Horseless Carriages, which has provided sleek TVR cars for 22 years, is reaping the benefit of the car's appearance in Hollywood techno-thriller Swordfish.
Throughout the film, criminal mastermind Gabriel Shear, played by Travolta, cruises the mean streets of Los Angeles in a gleaming TVR Tuscan. The car is also involved in the film's showpiece car chase.
Managers at the firm say that since the movie opened, they have received huge interest from people wanting to know more about the car.
Founder and chairman Nigel Kemp said: "TVR cars are hand built by British craftsmen, and over recent years, the brand has attracted more mainstream buyers.
"Now, we are seeing sales grow and inquiries increase. Although John Travolta has come to the marque late, we welcome his conversion to a classic British sports car with real sex appeal.
"The new film has generated interest already, and I expect more inquiries as the film is seen by more and more people.
"The TVR Tuscan is an ideal vehicle for a Hollywood producer wanting a movie character who is a strong individual, who seeks out excitement and fun without using the predictable European sports cars.
"The chase sequence shows off the car's speed and manoeuvrability. This film, together with one of the best new designs in the global car industry, is giving our business a real boost."
