A NEW summer event offers York residents the chance to enjoy breakfast with an unusual guest.
Visitors to Jorvik can be guaranteed queue-free entry to Viking Victuals, where they will sit down to eat with a Viking warrior.
Tickets, which must be pre-booked, get the visitor coffee, a Danish pastry and a talk from the warrior about what the Viking diet was like in 975AD - the year Jorvik recreates.
Jorvik archaeologist Dr Andrew Jones said: "It is a fun event with an educational side. It has been designed to help York residents get the most from Jorvik, while avoiding the tourist rush."
Entry to the event is at 9am or 9.15am. Tickets can be booked on 01904 543403 or through the website www.vikingjorvik.com
