Duncombe Park pair Paul Wilkie and Will Mallory both performed well at Beverley in their division one encounter but were unable to prevent an advantage draw for the hosts.

Mallory claimed 5 for 53 and Wilkie 3 for 47 but Ali Brumfield (33), Andy Burton (31) and Tim Fordon (35) helped their side take full batting points at 203 for 9.

Wilkie then made a stoic 41 not out as Park held out for a draw at 123 for 8.

Two sides with high hopes of claiming the second promotion place clashed at Carlton Towers where York came out on top by three wickets.

Jamie Pocklington (59) and Kevin Waites (37no) recorded a century stand for the hosts who moved to 173 for 8.

Andrew Kay led the visitors' response with 55 while Ben Quick (34) and Shaun Gorman (28) provided effective back-up.

Driffield made progress towards divisional safety while, at the same time, plunging Stamford Bridge deeper into trouble by gaining an advantage draw. Ankur Sondhi hit 97 and Andy Morfitt an unbeaten 59 to take Driffield 189 for 3.

Mark Thompson (3 for 24) and Mark Woodcock (3 for 29) then reduced Stamford Bridge to 105 for 9 with Graham Tipping (23) just providing sufficient resistance to enable his side to escape defeat.

Crayke lost ground in the promotion race when they had to settle for an uninspiring draw at Dringhouses for whom Ian Bews took 4 for 31. Dringy were able to make 162 for 7 through John Crowe (42), Kev McGuinness (35) and Andy Kenyon (23no). Jon Wright (39) was the sole Crayke batsman to shine as his side struggled to 125 for 7.

Stillington had the better of a draw at Sessay with batting star Mohammed Hafeez rattling an unbeaten 102 as Stillington made 191 for 8. Matthew Coulson then posed a threat with 5 for 70 but Nick Harrison made 93 as Sessay gained a draw at 166 for 8.

Bottom-placed Wilberfoss came within a whisker of claiming a victory over Pocklington which would have given them a glimmer of hope of survival.

However their failure to gain a win leaves them 74 points away from safety and they now seem doomed to a drop into division two.

Pocklington made 173 for 5 with Ian Camwell hitting 81. Teenager Ben Jackson replied with 51 and Mike Stothard added 38 but Richard Foster's 3 for 43 saw 'Foss close at 171 for 8, three runs short of victory.
