Rowntrees' batsmen threw caution to the wind when they entertained division two leaders Hull Zingari and were dismissed inside 41 overs for 150.
Richard Tuite dominated the early part of the innings as he rattled up 38 off 42 balls before being second out at 45.
Paul Horner then scored the bulk of the runs in a fourth wicket stand of 58 with Nick Sedgewick. Horner had made 45 off only 37 balls before he became the first of six victims for Mark Beddis at 103 for 4. Sedgwick's more measured approach saw him make 21 off 50 balls before he fell to Beddis who then ripped through the lower order to claim 6 for 18 as Rowntrees closed on 150.
Zingari made a stuttering start as both openers were back in the pavilion for only 13 but Damon Rowan (64) then took control before a second Richard Tuite catch helped Barry Steel effect his dismissal at 117. This turned out to be the final reward for the Rowntrees bowlers as Alastair Markham (46no) steered Hull to a seven wicket win.
Second-placed Goole Town were never seriously threatened by bottom-placed Civil Service despite being restricted to 129 for 7 by Reece Houghton (3 for 54) and Simon Brown (4 for 49).
Steve Foster made 28 and Dave England 30 not out then the latter captured 4 for 14 in a miserly 15.4 overs as he and Richard Mann (3 for 21) sent Service packing for 73.
Bridlington amassed 231 for 4 against Bubwith who were bowled out for 150, Neil Pratt finishing on 49 not out.
Harrogate's batsmen struggled to 119 for 9 in response to 183 for 9 posted by Clifton Alliance II.
Tom Malloch (80) was the fulcrum of the Alliance innings while John Stevens (35) provided valuable support to offset the threat of Peter Kippax (4 for 47) and Marcus Fox (3 for 74). In reply, Rupert Scales made 42 but Harrogate were forced to cling on for a draw.
Ten-man Castleford had the better of the game with Scarborough, whose final pair, James Stork and Tom Pateman, batted for ten overs to gain a draw. Castleford posted 253 and Scarborough were only able to muster 159 for 9.
Whitkirk drew at Tadcaster which did little towards their bid to avoid relegation. Willie Walker (35) and Tyrone Naude (29no) had helped Tadcaster make 162 for 5 then John Wetherall grabbed 6 for 31 as Whitkirk struggled to reach 82 for 8.
