IT'S going to be a dramatic month for York Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society.
The season gets under way with two concerts at the National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) and a further production at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.
Members are also practising for a concert at the Grand Opera House this October.
On Wednesday at the NCEM there will be a concert with several songs by Ivor Novello, including romantic classics like Love Is My Reason and Keep The Home Fires Burning. The songs will be linked with a narration from John Ramsden.
The next event at this venue takes place on August 29. The society explores the music of Stephen Sondheim and the many musical forms he employs. The programme will include songs from Follies, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Gypsy, and Sweeney Todd.
And then there is Godspell - a 1970s musical reinterpretation of the Gospel of St Matthew, from August 23 to 25 at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre .
Tickets for Godspell, which starts at 7.30pm, are priced at £6 for over-16s (otherwise £4) and are available from the Theatre Royal box office (York 623568).
