North Duffield held the upper hand against Askham Bryan and, aided by Stillingfleet's home defeat to Ben Johnson, moved into second place in division three.
On a rain affected wicket Duffield reached 132 for 6, Trevor Britain top scoring with 39.
The visitors lost both openers cheaply but a second wicket partnership of 40 between Chris Parker and Willy Knight put them back in.
Then two fateful run-outs left Askham too much to do with John Patrick mopping up.
An excellent game was played in the best of spirit at Woodhouse Grange, who just failed to overturn a big Escrick Park score.
Chris Megone carried his bat for 82 and, along with 39 from James Reynolds, helped the Park to 181-4.
Grange were making steady progress at 108 for 2 with Dick Whaley, Pete Edmondson and Neil Tattersall all going well when Reynolds struck. His 5 for 42 was the undoing of the 'Grange.
Mike Baines scored 30 late on to take them to maximum batting points, but they failed to reach the winning target by just six runs.
