Heworth Amateur Rugby League Club will have a couple of new players in their side for their first pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Half-back Mick Harrison and full-back Dave Carling have both joined the Villagers from neighbours New Earswick All Blacks.
Also back in training is former York Wasps half-back Brandan Carlyle.
Heworth will once again have coach Harold Box and assistant Phil Butler at the helm as they look for an immediate return to the National Conference League first division following their relegation last season.
On Saturday they entertain Castleford Lock Lane (kick-off 2.30pm) and are currently negotiating for another friendly before the season gets underway.
