Paul Hanagan, forced to spend a mandatory three weeks on the sidelines after suffering concussion in a fall at York last month, can return to action in a blaze of glory at Beverley tomorrow.

The crack Ryedale apprentice teams-up with Sir Sandrovitch in the £10,000 Hypac Handicap and is fancied to steer the Richard Fahey-trained sprinter to victory.

Hanagan remains in close contention for the apprentice championship this season, despite his enforced absence which was the result of him being unshipped from Ballet Master on the way to the start on Knavesmire.

Sir Sandrovitch is no stranger to success on Beverley, having contributed to Hanagan's first-ever treble when scoring on this course earlier in the season.

John Dunlop's Ash Hab will take plenty of beating in the betabet Handicap over two miles.

Having got off the mark at Thirsk recently, the Sussex raider may prove just too strong for Mick Easterby's Rigadoon, who looks to be returning to form.

Receivedwiththanx, a runaway winner at Thirsk last month, can oblige again for Norton trainer Alan Dickman in the John Jenkins Memorial Novice Stakes.

At Haydock, Hambleden is taken to clinch the £50,000 Tote Old Newton Cup, which has attracted a strong field.

The progressive All Grain gets the vote in the £40,000 Halliwell Landau Lancashire Oaks. Fergal Lynch teams-up with Sir Michael Stoute's filly.

Stoute has much bigger fish to fry at Sandown where Medicean lines-up for the £325,000 Coral Eurobet Eclipse Stakes, which promises to be a corker of a race.

With Black Minnalouse, winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the St James' Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Tobougg, third to Galileo in the Vodafone Derby also in the field, Medicean faces a searching test.

But Kieren Fallon's mount is in the form of his life afer wins in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and Royal Ascot's Queen Anne Stakes. He is napped to come out on top in what could be one of the best races of the entire season.

North Yorkshire trainer Alan Swinbank ventures to Sandown with good prospects of making his presence felt.

Swinbank, who trains near Richmond, is enjoying a highly successful first season and he has two useful strings to his bow on the Esher course with Gracilis (4-05) and Just Murphy (5-15).
