ONE redevelopment to have cleared all its planning hurdles is the £16 million extension of York District Hospital. This is excellent news.
The hospital was never built to cope with the number of patients now passing through its doors. Once the option of building a new hospital was ruled unviable, the need to expand the existing site became imperative.
When the work is complete, the hospital will be able to treat many more people in better surroundings. That will prove how extra NHS investment can make a real and lasting difference to patient care.
