NEW artwork by Tessa Newcomb is on show this month and next at Kentmere House Gallery, Scarcroft Hill, York.
"Tessa's work is like the artist herself: charming, small-scale and highly accomplished," says gallery owner Ann Petherick. "Her work is also - for the moment! - very affordable, on sale at prices ranging from £150 to £500."
Tessa is the daughter of acclaimed painter Mary Newcomb. Her exhibition is open tomorrow and Sunday, then August 4 and 5, from 11am to 5pm each day, plus every Thursday evening, 6pm to 9pm, and at other times by appointment on 01904 656507 or 630963.
In addition to Tessa Newcomb, Jack Hellewell, Liam Spencer, Brenda Evans and Jenny Devereux are being exhibited too.
Work can be acquired from Kentmere House Gallery through Yorkshire Arts' Artloan scheme, an interest-free way of buying art in instalments over ten months.
Among those who have used Artloan is Helen Green, of Wentworth Road, York, who has bought three of Tessa's paintings.
"Artloan has made it possible for me to buy original art work, something I would not even have thought of at one time," she says. "I feel it's important for children to grow up seeing original art around them - I have two daughters - and we've also been able to meet some of the artists."
Ann Petherick adds: "I particularly enjoy seeing people buy their first piece of original work and then - like Helen - getting hooked on art!"
Free leaflets giving details of Artloan are available from the gallery.
